Emeka Okafor traded for Hornets Tyson Chandler

espn reports:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Hornets have officially found a taker for Tyson Chandler in the Charlotte Bobcats, trading for fellow center Emeka Okafor and signaling an unexpected shift in thinking that suggests New Orleans does plan to try to keep up with the contenders and spenders in the Western Conference.
Chandler
Okafor
Charlotte coach Larry Brown was willing to jettison the Bobcats' first draft pick in a deal involving 26-year-old centers, a trade that brought different financial relief to both teams and hopes they'll thrive under different big men.
The Hornets have been trying to unload the 7-foot-1 Chandler for several months. Last season they sent him to Oklahoma City, but the trade was rescinded after Chandler failed a physical amid concerns over a lingering toe injury.
Brown was willing to gamble on the injury-prone big man. It comes at the expense of Okafor, who at 6-foot-10 is smaller than Chandler and had trouble guarding the NBA's top big men.
"We're getting a young kid who is long and athletic and can play multiple positions and fills a need that we obviously have," Brown said.
But the Hornets were intrigued by Okafor's superior rebounding and durability, giving New Orleans a reliable big man with a longer contract as they try to recover from last season's first-round playoff exit. The deal was consummated just days after star guard Chris Paul wondered aloud about the Hornets' relative inactivity this offseason at the NBA's annual summer league in Las Vegas.
"We looked at this trade as an opportunity to improve our team," Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins said. "Tyson brings that unique level of athleticism in a 7-footer that puts us in a position to compete night in and night out with the other quality centers in the league."
What Are Cats Thinking?
The Hornets get the better player and some cap relief this year, while the offensively challenged Bobcats lose post scoring, John Hollinger writes. Story
"Emeka is one of the premier centers in the NBA with All-Star caliber scoring and rebounding averages throughout his career," Hornets general manager Jeff Bower said. "His potential to improve is endless once you put him on the court running with Chris Paul."
Paul and Chandler comprised a constant alley-oop threat when Chandler was healthy, and the two were close off the court.
"I'm losing a great friend, a brother. T.C. is my man. ... I'm going to miss him," said Paul, who was attending a basketball camp in New Orleans.
"It's going to take some time to see how this works out," Paul continued. "I want Emeka to come in here and be the best player he's ever been. From today on out, that's my teammate. ... Hopefully we can eventually have the same relationship that me and Tyson had."
The deal is the fourth trade Charlotte has made since managing partner Michael Jordan hired Brown before last season. Brown, in his record ninth NBA head-coaching job, has continued his history of numerous trades to mold the team into his defensive-minded liking.
Now it includes sending the centerpiece of Charlotte's new franchise to the city's old team.
Two years after the Hornets left Charlotte for New Orleans, the expansion Bobcats took Okafor with the No. 2 pick in the 2004 draft -- after Orlando grabbed Dwight Howard.
Okafor, who won a national championship at Connecticut, had injury problems early in his career. But he has played all 82 games in each of the past two seasons while providing Charlotte with solid, if unspectacular, play.
Okafor averaged 13.2 points and 10.1 rebounds last season, but his style didn't mesh with Brown. The coach questioned his basketball fire at the end of last season.
"I wanted him to have a passion and work on his game," Brown said Tuesday. "I think he made unbelievable progress in that regard. When we had an exit meeting this past season he told me he was going to do that, he was going to work on his game. ... This was a basketball decision. It had nothing to do with Emeka."
Chandler gives the Bobcats a center who can better defend big players. But Chandler is coming off surgery, and despite their identical ages, Chandler has played four more seasons than Okafor because he came to the NBA directly from high school in 2001.
"We appreciate what Tyson has done for our club in the past and wish him the best, but our intention this summer was to improve our team and this trade is definitely a positive move in that direction," Bower said.
Chandler averaged 8.8 points and 8.7 rebounds in only 45 games last season. He then underwent procedures on his left ankle and toe in May after being ineffective in the first-round series loss to Denver.
Provided there are no complications with Chandler's physical in Charlotte, his arrival and Okafor's exit will leave swingman Gerald Wallace as the only holdover from the Bobcats' original roster in 2004-05. Okafor stands to be the fourth of Charlotte's seven lottery picks to leave town, joining Sean May (waived), Adam Morrison (traded last season to the Los Angeles Lakers) and Brandan Wright (traded to Golden State on draft day in 2007).
The Bobcats were willing to take a chance that Chandler will be fully recovered by the start of next season and pulled the trigger on the deal that brought financial relief to both sides.
For the Hornets, it immediately lowers their payroll and would reduce luxury tax payments. Okafor is scheduled to make $10.5 million next season and Chandler $11.8 million. The Hornets entered the week with a payroll of about $78 million, triggering a dollar-for-dollar tax over the NBA's luxury tax threshold of $69.9 million.
But the Bobcats unload a much longer long-term commitment. Okafor still has five years left on a six-year, $72 million deal he signed last year. Chandler would make $12.7 million in a player option in 2010-11, the final season of his deal.
Bobcats owner Bob Johnson, who is looking to sell the team after losing millions of dollars, has ordered management not to reach the luxury tax threshold. Getting Okafor's big contract off the books will help achieve that goal in future seasons.
"Emeka is a great kid, but we all felt that with the way Tyson plays, with his quickness and his ability to handle the ball and his length, that was something that was very important to us," Brown said. "That was the overriding factor."

I really think this trade works out for the Hornets they gain Emeka Okafor a power forward who has been not really utilized. Playing with Chris will allow him have the ability to play with a great playmaker. Someone who can get them the ball in the paint. But Emeka also bring muched needed touhnesses to a team that ws literally beat up in the playoffs. This should make the team better in the half court set where they really struggled.

Tyson Chandler provides the type hard work that Larry Brown. A athletic 7 footer who can run the floor like a deer. But clearly is not a star yet. But who knows under Larry Brown he could emege as a star. But rigt now he's just athletic garbage man at best.
well thats the news and until then stay fresh.....

Cavs offer sheet to Jamario Moon

"Cavs offer sheet to Jamario Moon

As part of their continuing efforts to upgrade this off-season, the Cavaliers have signed restricted free agent Jamario Moon of Miami to an offer sheet, according to a league source. The Cavaliers have about $3.2 million remaining on their midlevel exception that they can use to pay Moon, a 6-8 swingman, or they can use their $2 million biannual exception. The offer is for two guaranteed years. Once the league receives the paperwork, which is expected to be today, the Heat will have seven days to match the offer. This marks Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry's first foray into courting a restricted free agent. The Cavaliers are banking on Miami's attention being diverted to other ..."

I say good job Danny Ferry for once a wing who actually take some of the pressure off of lebron Defense assignments. Hopefully we can get him in the Cavs uniform for the start of the season. We only have to hope with Miami wings that want think to sign him. But I look at Moon as being the same type of player the Trevor Ariza was to Lakers. A glue guy that can give atheletic plays from time to time. But will have to see as this story begins to open up more. Hopefully in a good way for the wine and gold

Clubber Lane Dunks

I just say the Clubber Lang Dunks. Those who might not be familar might remember the name from Rocky 3. The character played by no other than Mr. T himself. He playd his role great and he really reminded of a old school verision of Mike Tyson. Just watch and you can see the movie.

But lets check out a little bit more about the fighter known as Clubber Lane.

Check it out below:

Little is known about Clubber Lang. Before Rocky's fight against him, he is introduced as being from Chicago (his nickname is "The Southside Slugger"). According to his bio in Rocky: The Ultimate Guide, James Lang was orphaned at an early age, and spent most of his childhood in the streets of Chicago, orphanages and juvenile facilities. Later as an adult, Clubber was sent to prison for five years, for one possible count of a felony and/or assault charge. But during his time being served he discovered boxing as a way to let out his frustrations and talent, which leads to the events of Rocky III. This is also evident in the game, Rocky Legends, where if you select Clubber's path, he starts out fighting in the Chicago State Penitentiary, in a ring actually inside the prison itself. The Internet Movie Database does not provide a name for his manager, though one novelization of the film called him "Donut."

[edit] Character
Clubber's character is much like his boxing style: direct, aggressive and uncompromisingly brutal. His fighting style and record show a similarity to a young George Foreman. His quest for respect from the press is much like Larry Holmes. Clubber is shown to seemingly enjoy fighting and inflicting pain on whomever he fights, he was shown to be willing to fight both inside and outside the ring, even attempting to taunt the newly retired Apollo Creed into hitting him just before his match with Balboa.

[edit] Plot
During Rocky III's intro, we see Rocky defeating numerous contenders in a montage. In this montage, Clubber is displayed as being annoyed at Rocky becoming a sellout. He is shown training himself and brutally thrashing other boxers until he becomes the number one contender. At the end of the montage, Clubber is shown yelling at Rocky's trainer Mickey, goading him to set up a fight between Rocky and himself. Later in the film, Clubber crashes a ceremony in Philadelphia dedicating a statue to Rocky and challenges him. To provoke his potential opponent, he proceeds to make comments of a sexual nature toward Rocky's wife, Adrian, prompting Rocky to lose his temper and accept the challenge, despite Mickey's protests.
Because of Rocky's deep concern for Mickey, who had suffered a heart attack during the match, and the hand-picked competition he was given previously, Balboa was unprepared for Lang, who defeats him in a second round knockout. Immediately after the fight, a bruised and battered Rocky approaches Mickey, whose condition has rapidly deteriorated, and is unable to admit to his trainer that he lost. However instead of lying outright about the result, Rocky opts to hide the truth by simply saying the match ended in a "knockout". Mickey slowly loses consciousness at that point and dies shortly afterward.
Days later, Apollo Creed, another former World Heavyweight Champion and one-time opponent of the "Italian Stallion" himself, approaches Rocky and encourages him to resume his boxing career. After some hesitation, Balboa agrees to be trained by Creed and undergoes an intensive regimen of diet and exercise, as well as numerous tips on various boxing techniques, as Rocky endeavors to reclaim the World Title from Clubber Lang. In the rematch, Rocky defeats Lang by knockout in round three.

[edit] Catchphrases
"I pity the fool." (Clubber originated the phrase, which has since become synonymous with Mr. T himself.)
"My prediction: Pain."
"Dead meat."
"Got a LOTTA MO fo you Balboa! A LOTTA MO!"
In the film, Clubber throws a temper tantrum in the locker room before his first fight with Rocky Balboa and refers to the press as "parasites and leeches." Mr. T would use this phrase several times in his career, including in a 1985 interview with David Letterman

Doomsday vs Hulk

This would be a incredible battle for the ages and its really hard to determine a clear cutt winner for this one. So let just go by the facts and see who would this battle of power.....

Doomsday

Powers and abilities:

Doomsday was created and evolved through cloning an infant and having it killed over and over again by one of the most dangerous species of the universe and in one of the harshest habitats in existence, prehistoric Krypton. As such, he returns to life and becomes resistant or immune to what killed him before. After the Radiant killed him the first time they fought, Doomsday grew immune to the former's energy-projection, and even managed to withstand Darkseid's full Omega-Effect.[6] The amount of damage dealt to Doomsday determines the length of time it would take to fully recover. During his outwardly undamaged death at Superman's hands, he only needed some days to recover, but when Imperiex reduced him to a skeleton, it would take months.
Doomsday can also develop/evolve resistance from ordinary injuries. Superman once used a sound gun to greatly discomfort him, but Doomsday's auditory canals closed up, making him impervious to Superman's weapon.[6] Waverider once paralyzed Doomsday with chronal energy, but the second attempt backfired.[6] In essence, Doomsday gradually turns more invulnerable if not injured beyond his ability to recover, which is so far undefined. Doomsday has also developed weapons and abilities that counters the powers of an opponent. He managed to cancel out the pure-energy Radiant by slamming into him, and greatly extend his claws and develop a poison to strike Superman in flight and reel him in,[6] or breathe flames against the fire-sensitive Martian Manhunter.[7] Doomsday is covered by bony spurs providing protection to his few vital organs (brain, eyes, nervous system) and acting as weapons on his hands, elbows and knees.
Doomsday possesses extreme physical strength that, variable as it is, sometimes exceeds that of Superman, at one point enabling him to effortlessly stand his ground against the entire Justice League, including Superman and Orion.[8] He was able to break Superman's left arm with limited effort, as well as outmatch and beat Darkseid unconscious in physical combat.[6]
Doomsday is immensely resistant to heat, cold, and conventional damage, allowing him to survive on the most inhospitable worlds, or in the vacuum of space. His durability apparently also considerably exceeds that of Superman, as he was able to withstand Darkseid´s full-powered "Omega Effect" without any shown damage.[6]
Doomsday possesses seemingly inexhaustible stamina, and was not noticeably slowed down from fighting Superman for an entire day. His reflexes and speed are vastly beyond what's expected for his bulky size, and has been able to match Superman in this regard. He cannot fly, but rather travels by leaping miles at a time. Superman took advantage of this in their first battle by trying to keep him airborne, as the sky was his element.
Doomsday has a highly accelerated healing factor that allows him to quickly regenerate from most damage. When his side was cut by Superman with a plasma sword, it closed within moments. As a result of his engineering, Doomsday does not need to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep, and his body is almost solid mass with few vulnerable organs.[6]
Doomsday is now genetically part-Kryptonian due to his genes having been spliced with Kal-El's, however with the exception of his flame-breath, he has displayed no additional abilities. In fact, he was shown weaker than previously when he was singlehandedly beaten by Superman, which should not have been possible given previous accounts. This was rationalized as due to intelligence that he developed, causing him to fear the death that awaited him if he lost, but does not explain how a simple minor concussion could incapacitate his healing-factor for the time he remained unconscious.[7] However, he lost his intelligence when sent back in time, reverting him to his original state of fearlessness.[citation needed]
Once he gained some of Superman's Kryptonian DNA, he became susceptible to Kryptonite. Unlike Superman, it causes him pain, but cannot kill him.[citation needed] This was done to render him controllable.

Hulk

Powers and abilities:

The Hulk possesses the potential for near-limitless physical strength depending directly on his emotional state, particularly his anger.[39] This has been reflected in the repeated comment "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets." The entity Beyonder once claimed that the Hulk's potential strength had "no finite element inside".[40] His durability, healing, and endurance also increase in proportion to his temper.[41] Greg Pak described the Hulk shown during World War Hulk as having a level of physical power where "Hulk was stronger than any mortal --and most immortals-- who ever walked the Earth." [42]
The Hulk is resistant to most forms of injury or damage. The extent varies between interpretations, but he has withstood the equivalent of inner solar temperatures,[43] nuclear explosions,[44] and planet-splitting impacts.[45] He has been shown to have both regenerative and adaptive healing abilities, including growing tissues to allow him to breathe underwater,[46] surviving unprotected in space for extended periods (yet still eventually needing to breathe),[47] and when injured, healing from most wounds within seconds.[48]
His powerful legs allow him to leap into lower Earth orbit or across continents,[49] and he has displayed sufficient superhuman speed to match Thor,[50] or the Sentry.[51] He also has less commonly described powers, including abilities allowing him to "home in" to his place of origin in New Mexico,[52] resist psychic control,[53] grow stronger from radiation[54] or dark magic,[55] and to see and interact with astral forms.[56]
As Bruce Banner, he is considered one of the greatest minds on Earth. He has developed expertise in the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, and physiology, and holds a Ph.D. in nuclear physics. He possesses "a mind so brilliant it cannot be measured on any known intelligence test".[57]
In The Science of Superheroes, Lois Grest and Robert Weinberg examined Hulk’s powers, explaining the scientific flaws in them. Most notably, they point out that the level of gamma radiation Banner is exposed to at the initial blast would induce radiation sickness and kill him, or if not, create significant cancer risks for Banner, because hard radiation strips cells of their ability to function. They go on to offer up an alternate origin, in which a Hulk might be created by biological experimentation with adrenal glands and GFP.
Charles Q. Choi from LiveScience.com further explains that unlike the Incredible Hulk, gamma rays are not green; existing as they do beyond the visible spectrum, gamma rays have no color at all that we can describe. He also explains that gamma rays are so powerful (the most powerful form of electromagnetic radiation and 10,000 times more powerful than visible light) that they can even create matter- a possible explanation for the increased mass that Bruce Banner takes on during transformations. "Just as the Incredible Hulk 'is the strongest one there is,' as he says himself, so too are gamma ray bursts the most powerful explosions known

I LOVE MY ADIDAS

These shoes were so hard for me to find bigup to the seller who sold these to me on Ebay.....

Drake performance on BET

let me just start by saying that Drake is a wonderful artist he combines his singing with amazing lyrical skill. To always produce wondeful trak most recently I heard one of the million tapes that he has out great. But his performance on Bet was less than spectacular. Although this was not his fault I found out that he actually had surgery on his acl and was unable to walk. As noted at the end performace as limped off during Baby performance. All I still have to say this just one bump on the road, but not a major one. I even have to give him credit for performing under the circumstances.. Just to give the people what they want not a bad idea....thats the news until then stay fresh

ARTEST TO LA

The toughest players in the league or about to join together....take look at the report from CBS SPORTS.:

Shaq can have LeBron. Ron Artest says he'll take Kobe.Artest, whose versatility and toughness have made him one of the most coveted and combustible players in the NBA, told CBSSports.com Thursday that he's signing with the Lakers."I'm definitely going to L.A. -- to sign, yeah," Artest said in a phone interview. "Lakers, Lakers, Lakers. I'm in L.A. right now."Artest said he met with Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss Thursday and previously had spoken with Lakers coach Phil Jackson. He was en route to his financial manager's office, where he planned to huddle on the phone with his agent, David Bauman, to finalize details.Artest's exuberance -- he spent the whole summer in L.A., including several appearances at Lakers home games during the NBA Finals -- got ahead of the process a bit. Other teams that made overtures for Artest -- including the Cavaliers -- have not yet been notified that Artest is signing with the Lakers. (Consider them notified.) Bauman has spoken with Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, and a person with knowledge of the negotiations told CBSSports.com that Artest agreed to a five-year deal for the full mid-level exception -- about $33 million. It's the same deal that Houston agreed to with Trevor Ariza, who swaps cities with Artest."I don't really care about the money," Artest said. "I'll play there for nothing. ... L.A. was very interested in me, and they got me."UPDATE: Lakers spokesman John Black declined to comment on Artest's assertion, but another person with knowledge of the situation corroborated Artest's account that he will sign with L.A. pending the financial parameters being finalized.Only 24 hours earlier, the buzz was focused on Artest joining LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal in Cleveland in what would've made a potent Big Three on the shores of Lake Erie. It would've been, well, eerie, too: Artest's internal combustion engine, combined with LeBron's exquisite dominance and Shaq's alpha-male, all-round Shaq-ness would've been something to see.
But Artest said talks with Cleveland "never got that far." Told that Cleveland, by all accounts, had extreme interest, Artest said, "I don't know how extreme. I love the Cleveland Cavaliers, though. I love LeBron and Coach (Mike) Brown and Shaq."
But what he really loves is L.A.
"L.A. is what it is," Artest said. "I've been here for the whole summer, and it's pretty good. It's good for me. I know Lamar Odom, so that's pretty cool."
Artest spoke as though Odom would return to the Lakers to join Artest and Kobe Bryant for another title run. The addition of Artest would mean the Lakers have to choose between Odom and Trevor Ariza. Obviously, Ariza would be the odd man out and already has expressed displeasure with the Lakers' efforts to lure him back with only the mid-level exception.
UPDATE: The addition of Artest is a coup for the defending champion Lakers, who have faced the prospect of trying to retain their own free agents, Odom and Ariza, and have seen other contenders make major efforts to improve. Most notably, the Celtics dispatched their Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce, along with coach Doc Rivers and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck to Detroit on Thursday to offer free agent Rasheed Wallace a mid-level contract. Cleveland's acquisition of Shaq put the Lakers, Celtics, and Magic on notice that the Cavaliers were making a serious push for a title next season. The Cavs' pursuit of Wallace, Artest, and Ariza signaled that they weren't finished after the pre-draft trade for Shaq."I talked to Coach Phil, and I was happy to talk to him," Artest said. "Big fan of Coach Phil. My agent talked to Kupchak, and I met with Dr. Buss. I'm very, very excited."

Superman vs the Super Sayain Goku

I really don't care what anybody says but I think Goku would win this battle hands down. Its just the fact that his powers seem limitless. And that superman is bound run out of energy.

Shaq and Lebron combo

Shaq noted today that he wanted to do two things jokingly he said: Bring the King a Ring, and he noted and extension. Shaq has played with a variety of superstars. But who would the current star lebron james be compared or in a since used the same. I wouldn't want to say Wade or Kobe. Because these two are more known to be scorers then passer. Although they do average well over 4 assist per average. There defintely at there best when they are attacking in a variety of ways.

Steve Nash a very good point guard mentally, but he does not present the immediete matchup problem that a Lerbon James at 6 "8 250 would present.

Well then only suitable person would have to be Penny Hardaway this is not far fetched at all. Lebron Himself compared his game to a more atheletic verision of Penny hardaway. And so far he has been that and better. So they do have the capacity to be at least in that same time of mode. And because of the advantage look over the defense you can expect alot easy basket for Shaq to covert. But the biggest thing is the cavs will finally have a big man who finish strong.

This is what shaq quoted saying at the press from cleveland.com:

INDEPENDENCE - Here is a sampling of quotes from Shaquille O'Neal during his introductory news conference this afternoon at the Cavaliers' training facility in Independence:
"This is something I couldn't turn down. You guys already are a damn good team."
"I'm able to play any style. I'm not here to demand 40 or 50 shots. Thirty (laughing). I'm just coming in to do my part."

On LeBron James remaining in Cleveland:

"In a perfect world, if we win it takes care of business and he has no choice but to stay here. ... It's something we shouldn't worry about."
On interest in joining law enforcement in Cleveland: "I'm actually undercover so I actually can't answer that. Everyone knows I'm very interested in law enforcement and when the time comes we'll talk about it. Right now, my motto is 'Win a Ring for the King.' "
On a Cleveland nickname: "I haven't come up with any yet. A friend tweeted me 'The Big Freeze.' I'm not sure about that yet. I'll have one."
On his kids' reaction to coming to Cleveland: "It's a funny situation because my son likes LeBron actually more than me. He was very, very happy. I'm not sad [just] a little jealous about it."
On his recent conversations with LeBron: "We've had some e-mails. I'm sure he's with his lovely family. We'll talk. We'll visit. I'll fly back up here and we'll visit."
"I don't really consider myself a superstar. ... Everyone knows this is LeBron's team. I'm not trying to come in and change that. ... I'm now in the security business. My job is to protect the King, and that's what I'm here to do."

The next decision will be to correct the offense and this will by adding another athletic wing. Someone who will be able to take pressure off of Lebron..... will see what happends thats the news and until then stay Fresh.......
